I've been grinding Genshin Impact like there's no tomorrow since Jahoda dropped last month. As an Anemo character, she's completely changed my team composition strategy, though I must admit I was initially disappointed when I realized she doesn't synergize well with Nefer despite their close relationship in the storyline. It's like they're besties in the streets but enemies in the sheets... of battle strategy, that is!

The Swirl reaction potential with Jahoda is absolutely bonkers when built correctly. After spending way too many primogems to get her (my wallet is still giving me the side-eye), I've been obsessively collecting all her ascension materials. Let me tell you, it's been a wild ride through Lempo Isle!

Ascension Materials Breakdown

If you're looking to max out Jahoda like I am, here's what you'll need to grind for:

Vayuda Turquoise Collection

For Vayuda Turquoise, I've been hitting up several sources:

  1. Boss Fights - Both normal and weekly bosses drop these gems

  2. Alchemy Conversion - Using Dust of Azoth at the crafting table (lifesaver when RNG hates you)

  3. Parametric Transformer - Sometimes delivers when you least expect it, like that pizza guy who shows up early for once

The most efficient bosses I've found for farming these gems are:

  • Anemo Hypostasis (old reliable)

  • Maguu Kenki (still a pain in the butt after all these years)

  • Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network (try saying that five times fast)

  • Setekh Wenut

  • Icewind Suite - Coppelia

  • Solitary Suanni

  • Tenebrous Papilla

  • Dvalin (Confront Stormterror)

  • Scaramouche (Joururi Workshop)

Portable Bearings - The Lempo Isle Hunt

Collecting these has been the bane of my existence this past week. They're concentrated around three main areas in Lempo Isle:

  • Clink-Clank Krumkake Craftshop

  • Barrowmoss Barrens

  • Blue Amber Lake

Pro tip that took me embarrassingly long to figure out: use the Nod-Krai kuuvahki power to collect them efficiently since they often have kuuvahki inside. Talk about a game-changer! I was running around like a headless chicken before I realized this.

The Lightbearing Scale-Feather Grind

These beautiful items drop from the Radiant Moonfly, and I've spent countless nights hunting them down. The moonlight reflection on their scales is absolutely gorgeous, almost making the grind worthwhile. Almost.

Interestingly, if you're also building Lauma (which I am considering for my second team), you'll need these for her ascension too. Two birds, one stone—or rather, two characters, one Scale-Feather!

Drive Shafts from Landcruisers

All types of Landcruisers drop Drive Shafts, but I've been specifically targeting higher-level enemies for better drop rates of the higher-rarity material. Nothing more satisfying than seeing that golden Drive Shaft pop up after a tough fight. It's like finding money in your old winter coat, except you had to battle mechanical monsters for it.

Talent Materials - The Never-ending Grind

Vagrancy Books

The Vagrancy talent books have me planning my week around domain runs. They're only available from the Lightless Capital on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. My friends know not to invite me out on those days—I'm booked solid with book farming. #NoLifeGamerProblems

Weekly Boss Materials

For Jahoda's talent crown material, I need Ascended Sample: Knight from The Game Before the Gate weekly boss. This is where RNG has been absolutely brutal to me. Three weeks running, and I've gotten everything BUT the Knight sample. Thank goodness for Dream Solvent allowing me to convert the Rook or Queen samples at the Alchemy table. Without that, I'd probably have thrown my controller through the window by now.

My Current Build Progress

After nearly a month of dedicated farming (and some might say unhealthy obsession), I've managed to get Jahoda to level 80 with 8/6/7 talents. The Anemo damage she puts out in my Swirl comp is chef's kiss. Pairing her with Kazuha for Anemo resonance and my C6 Xiangling for Pyro application has been working wonders in the Spiral Abyss.

I'm still on the fence about her best artifact set. The new Whispers of the Wind 4-piece set seems tailor-made for her, but I've also had success with a 2-piece Viridescent Venerer and 2-piece Noblesse Oblige for a more burst-focused build.

Final Thoughts

The grind for Jahoda has been both exhausting and exhilarating. There's something deeply satisfying about watching her numbers go up with each investment of resources. Though sometimes I do wonder if I'm just trapped in HoYoverse's carefully designed dopamine loop. Am I playing the game, or is the game playing me?

As I continue optimizing my Jahoda build through 2025, I keep coming back to one question: why do character relationships like Jahoda and Nefer's not translate to gameplay synergy more often? Would Genshin Impact be a more interesting game if narrative relationships had mechanical implications? Or would that just force players into predetermined team compositions, limiting the creative freedom that makes this game so engaging?

For now, I'll keep grinding those Portable Bearings and chasing after Moonflies. After all, what's a gacha game without the grind? As they say in the gaming world, sometimes you just gotta suck it up and git gud... or in this case, git grinding!

What are your experiences with building Jahoda? Have you found any farming shortcuts I've missed? The grind continues, and I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🌪️✨
