I Crushed Genshin's Adventurer's Trials: Metamorphosis Event - My Epic Journey!
Experience the innovative Genshin Impact Adventurer's Trials: Metamorphosis event, offering creative character challenges and exciting gameplay transformations that redefine exploration.
Just wrapped up the Adventurer's Trials: Metamorphosis event in Genshin Impact, and wow, what a ride! This 5.2 event completely transformed how I look at character abilities. Instead of the usual combat grind, HoYoverse gave us this creative playground to experiment with different characters in unique challenges.

The event is split into four trials, each with three distinct challenges. What makes it special is that you get to play with trial characters regardless of whether you own them - perfect for testing before pulling! I tried both solo and co-op modes, and honestly, while co-op speeds things up, the solo experience was just as enjoyable. No pressure, just fun!
Trial 1: Kinich, Wriothesley, and Kachina Showcase
The first trial immediately threw me into the action with Kinich, and I'm still buzzing about how satisfying his mechanics feel!
In Alternate Traversal Methods, I controlled Kinich to shoot at glowing weak points on approaching walls. There's something incredibly satisfying about breaking through those walls with his E ability and zipping through to collect coins. The timing gets trickier as the walls start coming faster, but that rush when you perfectly execute a sequence? Chef's kiss
Next up was A World-Class Banger To Seal The Deal with Wriothesley. Have you ever played soccer with Anemo slimes? Well, now I have! Using his charged punches to knock slimes into goals was oddly therapeutic. The stamina management adds a nice strategic element - those yellow orbs became my best friends!
For Bouncy Bouncy Forced March, I got to try Kachina and her spinning top. Is it just me, or does riding around on that top while enemies get sucked into a vortex feel ridiculously fun? I couldn't stop giggling as I spammed attacks while enemies helplessly gathered around me. Who needs complex combat strategies when you can become a human blender?
Trial 2: Elemental Masters and Obstacle Courses
Trial 2 started with Wardbreaker, featuring Kazuha. Using his E skill to trigger elemental reactions between Abyss mage shields and elemental wards was like conducting a symphony of destruction. Honestly, why can't Abyss mages always be this satisfying to defeat? The way they pop when you hit them with the right element is just so satisfying!
The Wavechasing Obstacle Course with Mualani was where I really tested my reflexes. Surfing over water to collect coins while dodging obstacles? I felt like I was in some kind of extreme water sports competition! The no-cooldown E ability made it super fluid, but I still managed to faceplant into obstacles more times than I'd like to admit. Anyone else find themselves holding their breath during the tight squeezes between obstacles?
For Smash 'n' Bash with Navia, I unleashed my inner demolition expert. Breaking those glowing red blocks was oddly therapeutic - who doesn't love watching things explode? The strategy of clearing white blocks to reach the red ones added a nice puzzle element. I spent way more time here than necessary just because blowing stuff up is too much fun.
Trial 3: Vertical Challenges and Aerial Combat
In Pouncing Sampling Methodology, I used Xilonen to skate up walls and glide between platforms. The vertical movement in this challenge really showcases how Genshin's traversal mechanics have evolved since launch. Remember when we just had basic climbing? Now we're skating up walls and performing aerial acrobatics!
Aerial Dodgeball with Wanderer was probably my favorite challenge of the entire event. Floating in the sky while shooting down obstacles and collecting coins - it felt like playing a completely different game! The freedom of movement combined with the threat of obstacles created this perfect balance of exhilaration and tension. Did anyone else pretend they were in a sci-fi aerial battle?
The Close Home Run challenge with Beidou was all about timing. Using her counter as a baseball bat to hit incoming balls was a stroke of genius from the developers. I kept imagining Beidou on a baseball team, probably hitting home runs while sipping her drink. The satisfaction of perfectly timing a counter to hit multiple balls at once? Unmatched!
Trial 4: The Grand Finale
Foothold Hunt with Chiori really tested my platforming skills. The pressure of knowing each platform would collapse after stepping on it kept my heart racing! There's something uniquely stressful yet exhilarating about constantly moving forward without a safe place to stop. Doesn't it remind you of those dreams where you're always running but never reaching your destination?
In Explosive Marksmanship with Chevreuse, I felt like a tactical genius. Waiting for enemies to approach bombs before shooting them was like setting up dominoes and watching them fall. The wave-based structure ramped up the difficulty nicely, and that rush when you take out a cluster of enemies with one well-timed explosion? Pure dopamine!
The final challenge, Toss and Cheer with Yaoyao, was deceptively simple yet addictive. Throwing bunnies through moving flower rings sounds easy until you're actually doing it! The moving and overlapping rings added a surprising level of challenge. I found myself getting way too invested in perfecting my bunny throws. Who knew tossing radish bunnies could be so competitive?
The Sweet Rewards
After completing all trials, I walked away with a nice haul: 420 Primogems, 280,000 Mora, and various character and weapon enhancement materials. While the primos are always welcome (saving for that next banner!), I think the real reward was experiencing these characters in unique scenarios.
What I love most about these event designs is how they showcase each character's unique mechanics in creative ways beyond standard combat. It makes me appreciate the thought that goes into character design. Did you find yourself wanting to pull for any characters after trying them in this event? I definitely added a couple to my wishlist!
Have you completed the Adventurer's Trials yet? Which challenge was your favorite? I'd love to hear about your experiences and whether any particular character surprised you with how fun they were to play!
P.S. If you haven't started the event yet, what are you waiting for? These creative challenges are some of the most fun I've had in Genshin in ages! 🌟🎮✨
